A true pioneer of Swiss hospitality education, Dr. Petri will be remembered for his commitment and contribution to the industry.

Dr. Petri opened the doors of the "Hotel School Alpina" in October 1982 to 49 students eager to learn Swiss hospitality management. 3 short years later in partnership with Washington State University, he made history by launching the first ever Bachelor Degree programme in Hotel Management in Switzerland. The original "Institute Hôtelier César Ritz" brand opened in Le Bouveret, Switzerland one year later and is known worldwide today as César Ritz Colleges Switzerland.

His entrepreneurial vision steered César Ritz Colleges towards its present-day success, as his work was the foundation upon which Swiss Education Group could establish and grow the hospitality programmes. Today, including the addition of the Culinary Arts Academy, 3 different campuses welcome over 2,500 international students each year.

"It is with great sadness we learned of the passing of Dr Petri and we extend our deepest sympathy to his family and loved ones. Swiss Education Group will continue to honour his legacy by staying true to the Swiss hospitality spirit which he fostered over the many years in building César Ritz Colleges Switzerland." Florent Rondez, Swiss Education Group CEO
